"The Amazing Rainforest" by Philip
I was falling from the sky! My stomach dropped. The wind was blowing the opposite way that I was going. It was so crazy! I was falling fast and I fell on a big piece of land. It was the Amazon Rainforest. A caiman popped up and tried to bite me. I leaped over a bush to try to escape, but the caiman had ginormus teeth that were 5 inches long. The caiman itself was about 10 feet long. I was so scared. I ran away as fast as I could. Then a 50 foot cobra was circling me. It was hissing at me. I saw a giant rock so I tried to lift it, but I couldn’t because it was too heavy. I grabbed a smaller rock and threw it at his head as hard as I could. He died. I saw a bunch of crowded trees bunched together and I hid in between them so no animals could get me.
I finally had time to breathe. Now let me tell you how I got here. I was on a private plane to Chile, but the engine broke down and the plane fell from the sky. Then I landed in the rainforest! I had to find ways to survive here. So I explored my new surroundings.
I saw wet leaves on the floor. I saw colorful animals walking and climbing. There were colorful mangos hanging from trees. There were also thick vines swinging in the air. I heard jaguars roaring far away. I felt sweat dripping down my face.
I got food by shaking a tree and rocking it until three mangos fell. Then I got water by leaving a cup under a leaf so when it rained water fell on the leaf and dripped into my cup. I got shelter by finding a nearby cave and made a campfire. I rubbed a stick against a tree to make it sharp so I could cut the mangos. They were juicy and sour.
Then I heard a howler monkey swinging on vines above me. He dropped to his feet and said “Hi. My name is Bob. What’s yours?”
“My name is Philip. Do you want to be friends forever?” I asked.
He said, “Yes!”
Then we went to get a snack and played together. We hung from trees. I saw a river so we went swimming. We threw a coconut around like a ball.
Then I told my monkey, “I'm staying here with you.”
He was so excited that he hugged me. This was the happiest I’ve ever been. I knew our adventure had only just begun. I had so much fun playing and spending time with my monkey that I decided to stay in the rainforest forever.
